Yesterday my 13-year old kid officially took his music career to the next level. Ian’s been planning an album called “Quietly Making Noise” for about a year and has written 14 songs that he’s ready to record. To cover the costs of such an endeavor (including studio time, post-production, and the time of the many musicians who will be a part of the album), he’s managing his very own Kickstarter campaign. He launched it yesterday, and it will run for one month.
For those of you unfamiliar with Kickstarter, it’s a wonderful way for folks to financially support creative projects online and get some cool incentives in return. There is little risk; pledgers only pay their offered donations if the financial goal of the project is reached. If it’s not, then nobody is charged anything. Before designing Ian’s campaign, we looked at tons of others – both those who succeeded and those who didn’t. We learned a lot, and Ian created an attractive collection of incentives to offer back to donors, including CDs, shirts, posters, and even personal concerts and individualized theme music composed by Ian himself.
We’re so excited for Ian, and I would love for you to be a part of his journey! There are a several ways to be part of the team: 1) watch his video and check out his Kickstarter page; 2) donate if you feel so moved and are able; 3) share his Kickstarter link (you can do this directly from the Kickstarter page). Getting the word out is such a big deal in an endeavor like this, and we truly appreciate any kind of help you can offer!
And now I will allow Ian to speak for himself. Here’s his official pitch:
Want to know more? He’s got two songs of the album already recorded; here’s the music video for his first piece, “Along the Lines of Fairytales:”
And of course, be sure to check out his website: www.ianridenhour.com.
Many thanks! And if you share his information and/or donate, be sure to let me know, so that I can thank you properly!
