Mind Benders (multiple titles) by Michael Baker or Anita Harnadeck. We’ve worked through a lot of these logic puzzles, often over lunch time. The books are affordable, and I actually checked them out through our public library and then drew out the puzzles on white boards at home for the kids to complete. They’re a fun way to develop logic and problem solving skills. Mind Benders is one of many series produced by the Critical Thinking Company. We’ve been pleased with everything we’ve purchased from them for entertaining and challenging supplements.
Philosophy for Kids: 40 Questions That Help You Wonder About Everything! by David White. Philosophy for Kids is organized in short chapters that explore famous philosophers. The narratives are followed up by discussion-provoking questions; it provides great opportunities to spice up your dinner time conversations! And if you love it, he also wrote a sequel.
The Examined Life: Advanced Philosophy for Kids by David White. This is the sequel to Philosophy for Kids, written for kids ready to dig into philosophy a bit deeper. I will confess, I haven’t personally used this book yet, but as it’s meant to compliment the first, I feel good about recommending it.
